The Honors

Marks of a significant road through the Israeli metal underworld. There is no score and no ladder — an honor either is earned or it isn't, and one is worth no more than another.

Every honor is measured from documented traces alone: the lineups, guests and staff that albums themselves credit, and dated live shows from the scene's archives. A year counts only when a record or a show proves it. Nothing is assumed, nothing is guessed.

What is below is a musician's hall: what one person's name is on. A band's own marks are counted too — what it pressed, where it was signed, how far it went, how long it lasted — but they are not laid out here as a table of weights to be read and compared. They do their work where the archive is actually read: a band that has earned more of them is drawn larger on the map, and the map says in one line what it is counting.
